Today, we are standing atop a wave of enormous change. AI is no longer just a tool or technology. It is rapidly becoming the driving force transfroming the way people think and live, recasting social structures. However, technological development does not guarantee human progress. It is the responsibility of those living in this age to ensure that AI’s responsible development brings benefits to humanity and human society.

Institute for AI and Social Innovation was founded in 2025 under this recognition. We do not look at AI merely from the perspective of efficiency and speed. We seek ways to lead AI to enhance human dignity and values of our communities, an interdisciplinary approach encompassing social studies, humanities, business administration, education, and medicine.

Our research will support the creative development of AI application technologies; exploration of innovative AI-based medical technologies; in-depth studies on AI’s impact on human identity, society, and culture; AI education and talent development for future generations, and more. We aim to build an AI research ecosystem that grows alongside the world through close cooperation with domestic and international scholars, strengthening research infrastructure, providing open data and computational resources, and hosting diverse academic events and forums.

The institute will strive to build a knowledge foundation for the development of AI technology that benefits humanity and human society to become ‘a hub for converging AI, humanity, and society.’ As the largest AI research institute in Korea, we will lead industry-academy cooperation, producing global-level research outcomes.
